May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rain fall soft upon your face. And until we meet again, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Oh the Adventures....

This weekend was full of great adventure in our lives. Saturday we put on our adventure shoes...grabbed Grace and went island hopping....on foot!

It was so much fun! We walked north up the East River and took the pedestrian bridge over to Ward's Island (we have done this once before).

Check out the view from the pedestrian bridge...

Then we walked north up Ward's Island to Randall's Island. Check out our scenery...

I had recently seen a shuttle bus that said Randall's Island Golf Center so I knew there must be something great on this tiny island. We walked and walked and walked and walked until finally we saw some netting that looked like it could be for a driving range.

It was so exciting...as we got closer we realized that this was a full on family fun center. There were batting cages, putt putt, a driving range and party space you could rent.

There happened to be a company party while we were there and they had a band. So cool...we didn't stay to play but we are certainly putting it on our list to go back and experience....maybe rent some bikes and ride up there next time!!!

Grace was so tired on our walk back. We brought her water dish and stopped periodically at the fountain for her to drink. However, on the way back she was too tired to even drink. Our poor girl....have no fear though she rallied that afternoon just in time for our company!

Laura, Carol Anne, Alexis, Libba, and Melanie made a trip to the big apple and met up with Margaret who lives here and Allison who lives here for the summer. I was so excited they agreed to come to our humble home for wine and cheese before their dinner. It was the biggest gathering to date and it was so much fun. I told them our home was small but we definitely know how to entertain! Grace made her debut by snapping at Alexis and jumping right into Melanie's lap. I was mortified but everyone was a dog person which helps out a TON! It was so great visiting and hearing about their adventures in NYC...they were really doing it all.

That evening Orie and I had plans to go to the Harlem Renaissance Midsummer's Night Swing at Lincoln Center. We met up with Geoff and Camille for some great sounds and a little big of dancing. The orchestra was amazing and our dancing wasn't that bad. We didn't go out to the dance floor with the real deals but we held our own with the wannabees! What a fun evening in the great outdoors.

Here's a real deal...see how he glistens? GROSS!

The orchestra...

Geoff and Camille...good practice for their wedding!

This was the dance competition at the end of the night...we could barely see anything but the tops of their heads. They were swinging all over the place!

Aren't we cute?

Enjoy your adventures this week!
