May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rain fall soft upon your face. And until we meet again, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

The Good Ole DMV

Today was my 2nd trip to the DMV since moving to New York. I did not have my marriage license the first time I went so today I had all my goods in tow and went back to the DMV. It's quite a ways downtown and I had to go before work so a very early morning for Diana. Orie has early mornings each day before work but I enjoy a much more relaxed morning getting to work at 9:30!!

Once at the DMV I go through the first two stations, take the picture, read the letters, and then I am told by the 3rd lady that I have no proof of birth because my passport was expired and my notarized birth certificate was not a certified copy. I wanted to tell her that how much more proof of birth do you need when I am standing right in front of you alive and well!! I kept that in check and then left. I called Orie almost in tears of frustration and said that I was leaving this stupid town and this stupid DMV. I then called my mom and told her much the same but I better leave before Wednesday since my license expires then!!!!

However, this evening when Orie and I went to take Grace on her walk to the park I was reminded of the wonderful things we both love about this city. Having our dog and being able to take her to some of the most beautiful parks in the country; having a walk down the East River; enjoying the outdoors each evening together - things we would never do if we were in any other city. Small things like walks with your dog and your husband put a bad day more in perspective.
