Those were my words to Orie as we started to pack up our things and leave Florida. We had the best trip...our vacay of the year!
We left Saturday for Florida and arrived with lots of sunshine. We got our rental car, rolled the windows down, and cruised to the condo (windows down is one of my favorite rituals!)
Saturday we watched some basketball and had dinner at Dewey Destin's on the water. We missed sunset a little bit but it was still beautiful. You dine literally on a pier on the water. Sunday we took a great walk in the morning and then spent the day on the beach. It was just what we needed. We had fresh shrimp for dinner and enjoyed music on the balcony. Monday was another beautiful day and we pretty much did the same thing as Sunday! We finished the day with dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe...one of our favorite spots. Tuesday was another beautiful day on the beach and when our first guests arrived. Jen, Rodney and Ethan came to meet us and it was so great getting to see them (especially Ethan but shh! don't tell). We had fish tacos for dinner and then introduced Jen and Rodney to our Nintendo Wii that we brought along for some fun. Laughs were had and another great day!
Wednesday was a little cloudy but we still had some beach time and then waited for mom and dad's arrival that evening. We were thrilled to see them but unfortunately their arrival brought the worst thunderstorms I have seen at the beach ever. It rained and rained and rained and rained until Saturday afternoon. We spent time playing Wii, Rummikub, twiddling our thumbs, shopping and YES watching our 2 year old nephew have to entertain himself at the beach while it RAINED AND RAINED! He was such a trooper!
Saturday afternoon the sun peeked out from some clouds and we hit the beach as fast as we could. We soaked up a little more sun, drank some cold Yuengling Lagers and watched Ethan have a beach football game with his dad and uncle Orie! It was a great last day.
Sunday we said farewell and it wasn't any fun. I hate leaving family...I hate leaving vacation....and I hate leaving the beach and beautiful weather. Oh well!
We are back in NYC now and went to pick up Grace today. She was thrilled to see us and I was so glad to go and get her. It was not her best boarding visit so we are in the market for a new vet and a new boarding facility. Any thoughts...let us know!
Hope everyone has a great week. Enjoy some fun photos from our trip. What are you all doing with your spring?
